The Virtues of Disappointment
The Virtues of Disappointment ♥
By: Eowyn Alisa Ciccone
At one time or another, we all experience disappointment in life and feel trapped in its web of ego. Situations, events, and people let us down and feelings of sadness, irritability, failure, hurt, and despair linger, while conflicting self-talk often consumes our days. The good news is that disappointment doesn’t have to exist in such a way. What if we could see the virtues of disappointment, opening and focusing on the opportunities and gifts it brings for inner growth and transformation? Life, filled with all its treasures, could then truly be experienced!
Being let down can help us discover that depending upon the outer world, and people, is at best inconsistent. It can elicit moments of awakening in which we realize that we may have been ignoring or avoiding the relationship that matters most, the relationship with ourselves, with the Soul, with Spirit. Disappointment can serve as a bridge to success, knowledge, bliss, and self-care. We are souls having a human experience and to understand and appreciate this Earthly classroom and physical life, we must journey up and down, feeling the good and the bad. Disappointment allows for introspection, empowerment, and the unearthing of truths that we’ve held all along, within the wisdom of our own hearts. Whatever the spectrum, disappointment emanates from the ego, not the Higher Self.
Recently, I was in the presence of a teenage boy who has lived his entire life with autism and beautifully, gracefully conducted an inspiring and heartwarming presentation about breaking the barriers of autism. I distinctly remember sitting in that room, seeing and hearing his band of angels cheering loudly and lovingly as he shared his disappointments and challenges. The Divine Spark of light glowed brightly within his heart and the hearts of everyone in attendance with him that day. His story brought not only perspective to the concept of disappointment but also a new sense that perhaps the key to finding the virtues in disappointment is surrendering. Releasing hurt and discomfort frees us from all of the limitations we, and others, have placed on ourselves. Compelling tools have been gifted to each of us, with the intent that they will help us spread our wings and fly, rising and accomplishing all that we could ever imagine and dream of.
Disappointment reveals blessings in disguise, which are difficult to recognize during moments of hurt and sadness, but are answered prayers, allowing what no longer serves us to fall away and usher in glorious new opportunities and experiences. During times of disappointment, quiet your mind, breathe deeply and listen. Connecting with Spirit will help you hear gentle and loving reassurance that all truly is well and everything is being taken care of. You are never alone and focusing on feelings that are of a lower vibration, such as worry, fear, anger, or malice will only cause you more upset and prevent you from manifesting what it is that you truly desire.
The Seraphim Angels, who are angelic beings associated with love, light, and purity, can assist you during times of disappointment. These heavenly beings work closely with the divine to help harmonize all aspects of our lives. They are the highest order of angels and shine as pure light. Call in the Seraphim to aid you, along with other companions of light. Their beautiful and strong wings (which they have six of) will embrace and carry the darkness from your heart bequeathing you only with warmth and love.
Auspiciously, disappointment will continue to march into our lives every now and then, offering another occasion for us to grow and be conscious of our emotions, ourselves, and to question what is it that we have yet to discover. “When the world says give up, hope whispers…try one more time.” In seeing the virtues of disappointment, you receive the secrets to YOU.
